A perfect drive in diner. Great staff every time and great food at a great price. A favorite of mine is the double cheeseburger with all the toppings. But going here, you must have desert. And desert for me is usually a famous Gilly Cookie. If you've never had one. Get one. Custard ice cream well made.

Gilles bears a striking resemblance to the regional restaurant powerhouse, Culver's, even down to their blue-and-white themes, crinkle-cut fries, and vanilla-scoop-in-a-cake-cone mascots. However, Gilles gives off a decidedly retro vibe with outdoor seating, carhops, and prices. Most everything on the menu is ordered a la carte, allowing you to mix and match to your heart's content. All three sandwiches measured up to expectations. The hot beef and cheese came with a goodly portion of roast beef topped with mild cheddar (don't quote me on my cheese identification, though) all dipped in au jus. Next was a grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce and mayo. This selection was both light and substantial at the same time. A plain hamburger with veggies rounded out the sandwich selection, and it was hot and juicy while not being overpowered by the other ingredients. The sides were not outshined by the sandwiches. The cheese curds were a piping-hot, delicious mix between the crunchy exterior and the smoothness of the interior. The crinkle-cut fries came out hot and did not last long, as these tasty morsels were devoured before they had the chance to cool fully. Then there were the ice cream products, of which we ordered two. The lime float was a neat adventure, combining lemon-lime soda, lime flavoring, and vanilla frozen custard. You were able to taste all three separately, but as they mixed, the float's combined value was certainly more than the sum of its parts. We also ordered a raspberry milkshake. Go get one and try it for yourself, as I can't do it justice here. having in the shade of some large trees at the park next door (which they do send people over to wait at) and consumed my food happily, I enjoyed myself here and will likely make it a destination the next time that I'm in the area.

I'm assuming u enjoy this place more if u grew up in fond du lac. I've eaten here maybe 3 times and im not sure what all the rave is about. A gillie burger is just a sloppy joe. Nothing to magical to me, I prefer A&W.

I was born in Fond Du Lac, and I go out of my way to visit Gilles whenever I come back to visit. I love the throw-back atmosphere and I love the food. While nostalgia might count for some of that, their fish sandwich remains my all-time favorite. Their custard is also solid. The prices are great, the service has always been good, and it's a delightful change of pace from your average "fast" food experience.

My two teens have had chain restaurant custard for years and didn't see why we were driving 10 minutes out of the way to hit a custard place in Wisconny. Ahem. The look on their faces after one bite of the custard from Gilles was almost priceless. Great service, good diner food as well as the custard. I love this place. Please, never change.

If you're looking for a good time, go to Gilles. Their custard is number one in the world. If I'm ever in town I have to stop for a chocolate frozen custard and a savory burger. It's a classic drive up diner where you turn on your headlights for service and sit in your car to eat. There are also some outdoor seating which is also a great option if you want to eat outside. The service is always friendly and I always have a feeling of home when I'm there. I never grew up in Fond du Lac, but the place itself is so unique and homey you can't help but love it! If you're looking for a frozen treat, you have to visit Gilles!
